LEGAL RELATIONS Learning Program
by Layman E. Allen and Sandra L. Bartlett

The LEGAL RELATIONS Learning Program is a series of exercises designed to give practice in the use of the LEGAL RELATIONS Language.  Each exercise consists of a LEGAL RELATION stated in the defined terms of the LEGAL RELATIONS Language, accompanied by a statement of the same proposition in the notation and abbreviation of the language.  Following these are 8 different statements presented in abbreviations. The task is to select which one of the 8 different statements presented in abbreviations below the given LEGAL RELATION statement is equivalent to it.

An example of a statement of a LEGAL RELATION is the following:
Person1 has the POWER to create person3's DUTY to person2 to bring about the state of affairs.

The same LEGAL relation stated in the notational abbreviation is the following:
person1_POWER_(person2_DUTY_person3_comply)

The same LEGAL relation stated in the abbreviation is the following:
1P_2D3s

Below the given statement will be 8 different statements, only one of which is equivalent to the given statement in the sense that it expresses the same idea except in different terms. You must click on the one you think is equivalent.

The abbreviations used in the notational statements can be found here:

A learner using the program should click on the one of the 8 statements that is thought to be equivalent to the given statement, and then follow the instructions on the page that appears.  That's all there is to it.  Enjoy!
